AnneMarie Coulter, Centre Manager
Youth & Volunteer Development Co-ordinator
I am born, bred and a proud Doonhamer.
I moved into North West Dumfries in 1989 and joined Summerhill Centre volunteer team to help develop much needed community groups in the area.
I strongly believe in partnership working and community empowerment to help improve our communities.
I graduated in 2002 from Paisley University, Dumfries Campus with BA Childhood Studies whilst working in the Housing and Social Care Sectors. My roles included Supported Housing Officer for Young People, Tenant Involvement Officer and also providing Family Housing Support in North West Dumfries.
I recognise the importance for Housing to become more involved with Community regeneration and to develop neighbourhoods beyond providing homes. This led to my strong commitment for developing local opportunities and a return to University to complete my Community Learning and Development Degree in 2007 at Glasgow University, Dumfries Campus.
I lead an organisation with four part time staff and over 60 volunteers between all our groups and I am extremely proud for our team to be recognised over the years at Local and National levels and to also be presented the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service. This is the highest award given to volunteer groups across the UK to recognise outstanding work done in their own communities.
