Summerhill Land Art

Summerhill Land Art is a Green Space project in Summerhill, North West Dumfries, Scotland, which is being developed into a piece of Community Public Art by local folk in our Youth Groups and Community Centre Groups.

We have based our ideas on global issues which affect us locally and globally.

We especially focus on Rainforest themed issues and also the need for looking after our environment and the development of our rural skills.

The final land design for this project has created snake paths and large water Swales representing the Amazon river and two unique mounds symbolising our rainforests as the lungs of our world .

Local people have showcased their amazing dry stone dyking / stone carvings / tribal wood carvings / upcycling metal work and unique art work, planting and many more quirky creations.

Our junior groups mini rainforest has been created from an old telephone box.

We raise awareness of the many issues rainforests and environments are facing.

We are very passionate about our world and this is one way we hope to share knowledge and also learn from others !

Think Global - Act Local!
